Community Open Studio & Writer's Wordshop

Open Studio Still LifeThe Community Open Studio and Writer's Wordshop is a collaborative outreach program for writers and artists. This creative venture began 11 years ago through the efforts of Community Mental Health Center of Lancaster County, CenterPointe, Inc., and Lincoln Parks and Recreation. With a focus on adults, anyone is welcome to drop in on Wednesday evenings at "F" Street Community Center. There you can express your inner artistry through writing, poetry, photography, visual arts and film. The Writer's Wordshop meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month from 5-7pm. They have published seven volumes of poetry and prose titled "Writer's on the Edge."

Open Studio Colorful RoosterThe Open Studio focuses on the works of nontraditional artists and meets the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 5-7pm. "Artists on the Edge" present 5-6 shows annually and has sold numerous art pieces through the years. Funders and supporters help provide supplies and materials for selected pieces. Seeking an inner peace through art has proven to be a wonderful form of communication and an essential activity to maintain wellness. Community Mental Health Center professionals have said, "That people who are involved the Open Studio never go to the hospital."
