Julie Hagemeier
Board President
Julie Hagemeier is the General Manager of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (1995 to present). Production programs include University Theatre, Theatrix, and the professional company, Nebraska Repertory Theatre. Julie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre with a Teaching Certificate from UNL in 1977. She taught high school drama, speech, forensics/debate, mass media, and language arts for 3 1/2 years at Pope John XXIII Central Catholic High School in Elgin, NE and for 9 years at Marysville High School in Marysville, KS. While in Marysville, Julie formed the Marysville Area Community Theatre and was its Producing Artistic Director from 1983 to 1991. She also directed and stage-managed for that company. She was the Artistic Director of the Beatrice Children's Theatre from 1988 to 1991 where she also directed, designed and taught workshops. From 1981-82, Julie worked as night box office manager and costume coordinator for the Lincoln Community Playhouse. Julie earned a Master of Arts in Theatre from UNL in 1993. In addition to her regular duties, Julie teaches "Theatre Management" and a section of "Introduction to Theatre." Julie is a member of The Angels Theatre Company.
For the Lincoln Arts Council, Julie has been active in the following committees over the years: Mayor's Arts Awards Committee, Strategic Planning Ad Hoc Committee, Economic Impact Study Committee, Arts Weekends Committee, GAIL-Growing Arts in Lincoln Committee, and was Company Manager for LAC's 1992-1993 Diversity Project. As an LAC Board member, Julie has been the Co-Chair and Chair of the Lincoln Arts Festival from 2007-2010, Secretary of the Board from 2006-2008, President-Elect from 2008-2010, and will be President from 2010-2012.
