A Celebration in Song
Posted by: Lincoln Choral Artists
Lincoln Choral Artists joined by members of Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra and the South Central Nebraska Children's Chorale will perform Felix Mendelssohn's "Symphony No. 2" ("Lobgesang"), written in celebration of the 400th anniversary of the invention of printing. This orchestral-choral symphony opens with soaring orchestral melodies followed by eight movements for solo voices and choir. The well known anthem for Soprano soloists, choir and orchestra "I Waited for the Lord" is one of the eight vocal movements. A spectacular and mature composition, but not as lengthy as "Elijah", "Lobgesong" (Hymn of Praise) is rarely heard fully preformed.| Date: | Sunday Dec 31, 1969 | 03:00 pmSunday May 13,2012 | 03:00 pm'Sunday May 13,2012 | 03:00 pm |
