Every First Friday of the month is an event that many communities across the nation celebrate. In Lincoln's Art Community, it allows a chance for local art galleries and establishments to open their doors to the public and have open house events where the public can come and see what is new in the art world. Here on the Lincoln Arts Council website, we offer a complete guide to all of open houses for Lincoln's First Friday Art Walk. If you know of an event that is happening, that is not listed in our guide, please feel free to email "Events" at events@artscene.org and we will be sure to post it as soon as possible.
Support our local art scene and see what's new in the world of the arts! Happy First Friday!

Clubs won't be making the only strokes on the green of the Lincoln Arts Council's golf scramble scheduled for Friday, July 26. We hope to have a few paint brushes out there, too! The idea is to incorporate fun, creative experiences into the day and that's where artists in the community are invited to get involved! If you have a musical, theatrical, or visual art experience you'd like to lend to the day, please contact us. We would like to have at least nine of 18 holes with a resident artist. We have a little theatre and Scots culture built in with Ian and Angus, the MacCrakken Brothers. These two mad Scots will add to the challenge of the game with their "witherin' tongue-lashin'" of everyone within earshot.
Download the registration brochure or visit our Fore Arts Fore Fun web page for more details.

Lincoln's own CSArt project is off to an amazing start, with great interest from both artists and art patrons. All fifty of our $300 patron shares were sold within three days, which is common in much larger markets, but a pleasant surprise for Lincoln. On the artist side, 35 artists vied for 9 positions, and just as many artists told us they were interested but unable to produce a proposal in time. What's clear is that Lincoln's arts community has recognized a great opportunity in this model of arts commerce. Artists and patrons alike are delighted with the opportunity for conversation and relationships.
There are three upcoming art distribution events and we think you might be interested in meeting the exceptional artists, 2 or 3 at a time, in the order their work will be distributed. Two of the artists at Jazz in June on the 18th will be:

In spite of the weather, we believe that Spring has arrived! And so, it is time for the annual Spring Program Campaign (April 1 – June 2). The focus of this donation opportunity is EDUCATION. Thanks to a partnership between the Lincoln Arts Council (LAC) and the City of Lincoln, Department of Parks and Recreation, we have positions available for AmeriCorps volunteers. We plan to bring on two AmeriCorps staffers this fall. The fundraising goal is to meet our match for two positions or $8,200.
