Described by Downbeat Magazine in 2018 as “a shimmering paradigm of stylish and sophisticated jazz singing,” Jackie Allen has toured across four continents. She has appeared at major venues such as The Joseph Papp Theater (NYC), The Dakota (Minneapolis), and Yoshi’s (San Francisco) and has been a special guest with the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic and on A Prairie Home Companion.
Born in Milwaukee, Jackie attended UW-Madison. She began her recording career in Chicago in the early 90’s and has released 12 critically acclaimed CDs. Her most recent include Tangled, Starry Night with orchestra, My Favorite Color (USA Today’s Top 10 List) and Rose Fingered Dawn, ten original songs by Hans Sturm.
Jackie has served on the Board of Governors for Grammys. She created the Torch Singer 101 course for amateur singers and teaches at Doane University. Jackie lives in Lincoln with her husband, bassist Hans Sturm, and son, Wolfgang.
