Art is the preservation of echoes: it seeks to harness tension and loss in the name of resilience and progress. If mediums are truly messages, then we craft moments with resonance. For me, it is rekindling voices time has muted: Maime TillMobley pleading for justice of her murdered child in Mississippi… the Schonwald family trying to flee Nazi Berlin to reunite with their son in Lincoln. In the wake of overwhelming oppression, art evokes extraordinary expression and provides the vanquished with a voice that leads us all closer to empathetic truths and benevolence.
