Lincoln Community Foundation Arts for Kids Award
Honors an individual or organization from outside of the arts professions whose leadership has enhanced arts activities and experiences for children.
All involved with the Mourning Hope Grief Center operate with a crystal clear, singular purpose – to bring comfort and support to youth and their families in times of grief. During peer group support sessions, activities often involve some level of artistic expression because children typically do not have the words or the developmental abilities to express their emotions. Many individuals communicate their deepest emotions through painting, drawing, sculpture and various art mediums; plus when their hands are busy creating, their voices often become less inhibited. At Mourning Hope – oftentimes through the use of art - bereaved youth ultimately learn that hope and healing are possible, and that no child should ever have to grieve alone.
