We know that it is vital to tend to our basic needs – food, clothing, shelter – but we mustn’t neglect the heart. Sometimes, the simplest things that we take for granted are painfully lacking in an environment of limited material resources. We are grateful for our many partnerships that allow us to bring teaching artists into our public schools, but we hope that this will not be a student’s only opportunity to create. To that end, we have been collecting basic art supplies to fill cinch bags to send home with the 380 Prescott students who have taken part in Art Makes Me SmART. this spring. Thanks to ArtFX Embroidery and Screenprint for the bright cinch bags and thanks to these community partners for hosting or funding our home art supplies drives: Cornhusker Bank, Legacy Retirement Communities, Pinnacle Bank Arena, Turbine Flats, Lincoln Industries, Grafton and Associates, Michael’s Store, Tau Kappa Epsilon and The Women’s Heritage League of Lincoln. As this is an ongoing project, we are looking for home art supplies drive hosts for the 2015-16 school year. We can schedule your drive today! 402-434-2787 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
