2017-2018 Art Makes Me SmART Season
Thanks to community investors, we have a great new season of Art Makes Me SmART experiences planned for children and youth during the school year. Many of you have helped to make this possible so please accept our sincere thanks.
Arnold Elementary School
The 4th graders at Arnold will create their own maps to explore important landmarks in their school, neighborhood and community with a culminating exhibition at the Immanuel Fine Arts Gallery at The Landing.

Calvert Elementary School
The 3rd graders at Calvert will create their own self-portraits inspired by Picasso with a final exhibition at the school using the app Aurasma to view the students’ artists statements.
Students from all grades also had the opportunity to participate in theme-based theatrical workshops as part of this residency program

Campbell Elementary School
The 5th graders at Campbell are participating in a self-portrait weaving project with a culminating exhibition at the Lux Center for the Arts.

This dance and movement after-school club started last season and will continue this season at Elliott!

Holmes Elementary School and Saratoga Elementary School
Families at Holmes Elementary School and Saratoga Elementary School will have the opportunity to design their own tiles as part of an all-school event with a final exhibition in May.

Students at Lancaster Youth Services participate in regular visual arts sessions (three times per week for 6 weeks each semester) which explore multiple artists, techniques and projects.

West Lincoln Elementary
Students at West Lincoln Elementary will participate in an after-school theatre club exploring Shakespeare and creative writing.

Community-wide Snowcatcher Performances
The Lincoln Arts Council and BLIXT, a Lincoln-based organization committed to improving the lives of children and families through the arts, are joining forces to address the needs of Lincoln children through a powerful one-woman show written and performed by award-winning playwright Becky Boesen titled, “Snowcatcher.” More information.
We will also have multiple community engagement opportunities in connection with the LAC’s 50th anniversary in 2018.
