Des Moines-based artist/designer Emily Bibler creates her tiny animal sculptures by hand from polymer clay using self-taught techniques and original designs. Each work is individually sculpted and develops its own personality through the creation process, making each one a unique masterpiece. Emily's work has been featured at art and fine craft shows throughout the Midwest, and she has gained a following of collectors from nine different countries (and counting!) through her online Etsy shop.
My tiny animal sculptures, or “Animalitos,†are made completely by hand from polymer clay using self-taught techniques and original designs. Each is individually sculpted, so no two are ever exactly alike. The sculptures are fired in several stages to preserve and protect the details, and the features are carefully created with acrylic paint, adding an additional element of individualism. The eyes are made from glass beads, creating the "spark" that gives each animal its personality.
