Artist Bio

My grandmother, a 4-H leader, taught me to sew at age 8 and I continued in 4-H for many years, eventually becoming a leader myself. While at the University of Wisconsin, I majored in clothing and textiles, later teaching adults while working as a County Extension Agent in New Mexico. Professionally, I still teach adults although in a different field. As a hobby and special interest, I began to experiment with new fabric & sewing techniques a few years ago. Currently, I sell my items at juried art shows, upscale juried holiday invitational events and in artist co-ops in Colorado. I moved back to the Midwest two years ago and have been participating in juried art events in the Midwest.

Artist Statement

One-of-a-kind original designs of purses, totes, travel bags, IPad & Computer covers and other personal items. Each item is hand-sewn, custom quilted, integrating unusual sewing techniques. I often hand dye, batik, emboss, marbleize or hand-paint fabrics that I sew with. They are often embellished with a small art piece or a small piece of vintage jewelry. Other details include use of Swarovski crystals, beads, chains and/or charms.
