I am a retired high school guidance counselor from the Kansas City area. I had never done any work with wood until I retired. In fact no one at any of the schools where I worked have ever thought of me as a "shop guy". My best friend put me on his lathe one day and, as they say, the rest is history.
I create wood products turned on a wood lathe. Items include bowls of various sizes, vases, hollow forms, pens, seem rippers, salt and pepper mills and more. Items are finished with tongue oil to a glossy sheen. A few articles are finished with a flat finish. Items are food safe after the finish has cured.
