Lucy Adkins & Becky Breed

Artistic Achievement – Literature Award

Lucy Adkins earned her MFA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and is a writer of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. Her work has appeared in many journals and anthologies, and she recently learned that she is the winner of the 2020 Blue Light Press poetry chapbook contest. Becky Breed, veteran educator, poet and essayist, earned an Ed.D. in Education and believes in the power of the word and community. She co-wrote and facilitated a Nebraska Humanities grant empowering women through written and visual arts, has led writing workshops with incarcerated women, and was awarded a Cooper Foundation grant connecting Elders with teens to promote inter-generational communication through writing, technology, and media. Together Lucy and Becky co-authored Writing in Community: Say Goodbye to Writer’s Block and Transform Your Life which was awarded an “Ippy” in the Independent Publisher’s Book Awards. Lucy and Becky have presented many classes and workshops in Lincoln and the surrounding area. These include “Write From the Heart,” “Finding the Poet Within,” “Preserving the Stories of Our Lives,” and “Jumpstart Your Writing.”
