2020 Mayor's Arts Award Winners

An "Ode to Joy”, an Evening to Celebrate the Arts in Lincoln

Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and the Lincoln Arts Council (LAC) have announced the winners of the 2020 Mayor’s Arts Awards to be presented Tuesday, April 14th at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Using Beethoven’s 250th anniversary as inspiration, the 42nd Mayor’s Arts Awards, and all of LAC’s arts engagement programming, will be thematically linked by the idea of Joy. Art and music can be used as an expression of joy, even when things are hard. Art can help us during times when other things cannot. For many great artists, writers and musicians throughout history the creative process has been cathartic. This can be true for all of us.

The 42nd annual event, which is open to the public, begins with a reception at 5:30 p.m. and includes heavy hors d'oeuvres, awards presentation and winners’ reception.

Local artists will be creating their own works based on the idea of Joy as part of the celebration. These will be displayed and auctioned off during the Mayor’s Arts Awards to benefit the Lincoln Arts Council.
