Mayor's Arts Awards
June 15, 2016 5:30 p.m. on stage at the Lied Center for the Performing Arts
Since 1978 the Mayor’s Arts Awards has become a much anticipated yearly festivity to recognize Lincoln’s rich artistic diversity. Each year the community gives kudos to individual achievement in all artistic mediums, from educational excellence to urban design; from organizational, volunteer and philanthropic dedication to the arts, to arts organizations and outstanding arts events. With our city’s Mayor we celebrate and bring together people of all ages and socio-economic levels to honor the arts and those that make it happen.
This event is also a major source of funding for The Lincoln Arts Council primarily through sponsorship and ticket sales. Held on the Main Stage of The Lied Center for Performing Arts with capacity attendance of 400, this gala evening includes entertaining “movie footage” spun on the event theme, with filmed snippets from all the honorees and the presentation of locally commissioned art pieces to the award winners by our Mayor. It is a fun night of demonstrating the value we place on creative expression and those who make it possible. All are welcome to attend!
