The Lincoln Arts Council is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2019 Project Grants. These grants are awarded to qualifying arts nonprofits to support their efforts to develop new audiences, facilitate underserved groups and increase arts access for all.
The following ten projects were selected to receive between $500 and $750 of underwriting provided by the Ken Good Beautification Fund and administered by The Lincoln Arts Council.
Community members are encouraged to attend and support these worthy projects.
Flatwater Shakespeare Company for free summer performances of Shakespeare’s “Two Gentlemen of Verona” in Lincoln’s parks and public spaces.
Lied Center for the Performing Arts for the Science of Sound Camp at Mickle Middle School for up to 50 underserved students grades 5 – 9 in June.
Lincoln Municipal Band to present seven free outdoor concerts at the John Shildneck Memorial band shell in Antelope Park in the summer.
Lincoln Music Teachers Association in support of the Music Outreach Program serving up to 50 limited-resource students each year with private music lessons.
Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra for the Family and Young People’s Concerts and community engagement events in collaboration with Family Literacy in February.
LUX Center for the Arts for a Native American Artists’ Exhibition and Workshops in February.
Nebraska Jazz Orchestra supporting Jazz Goes to School and Jazz 101 educational programs in elementary, middle and high schools.
Asian Community and Cultural Center for the annual Lunar New Year festival February 23 at the Lancaster Event Center.
Lincoln Association for the Traditional Arts for a music education outreach event for 4th and 5th grade music classes, and a concert at Elliott Elementary School February 22.
Angels Theatre Company to produce the 5th annual First Flight Festival which premieres new short plays written by ATC’s Play Writing Collective in July.
