Champions of the Arts

It takes Champions of the Arts to fulfill our mission. Producing the Mayor's Arts awards each year helps the Lincoln Arts Council to partially underwrite significant and important arts programming like upstArt, helping to grow our artist-in-residency program focused especially on under-resourced students in Title 1 Schools and other at-risk youth populations. Our sponsors help LAC continue to realize our work for a stronger, better, more inclusive arts community. Please join us in thanking our Mayor's Arts Awards Sponsors. And, join us May 9th at Pinnacle Bank Arena for the 41st Annual Mayor's Arts Awards.

Festival Artists Apply Now

Join us in Downtown Lincoln

We are now accepting applications for our 19th annual Lincoln Arts Festival. And we’ve got great things to look forward to as we move the event to downtown Lincoln. Imagine a beautiful fall day in our vibrant arts Downtown with talented artists lining the streets with their beautiful and intriguing artwork. You can be one of the artists. Apply at Zapplication.org by May 1, 2019. In its 19th year, our juried fine arts festival will take place September 21st and 22nd at 14th and P Streets.

The Lincoln Arts Festival draws about 120 artists from across the country. Original works cover the gamut of creative visual categories including painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry, ceramics, glass, leather, metalwork, wearable art, woodwork and mixed media (2 and 3 dimensional). The highly anticipated event draws attendees from the surrounding region to purchase art. We love artists and we are told repeatedly that it shows with 18 years of experience to draw upon and as the local arts council your success is what we work for. For more information, check out the Lincoln Arts Festival on Zapplication or contact Michele Peon-Casanova at michele@artscene.org or 402-434-2787.

Meet our Partner! A Q&A with Lorinda Rice from LPS

Lorinda Rice, Visual Art Curriculum Specialist at LPS, has worked closely with the Lincoln Arts Council for several years to make our classroom artist residencies as successful and relevant as possible. Lorinda is an invaluable partner in helping to select Title I schools, facilitating partnerships and finding ways to link the residencies meaningfully with curriculum.
