Poverty should not be a barrier to the arts

Bryan Seck and Spreetail have worked together for several years to provide free mattresses to families transitioning out of homelessness. A few years ago, Lincoln City Libraries joined in by offering a small collection of books to each family. Which led us to think—every home should have art supplies, too! So last year, we partnered with Gomez Art Supply to assemble 70 art bags for Bryan to give to families along with their mattresses and books.

This project got interrupted when we suspended programming last October, so we couldn’t have been more excited to bring it back to life this week. Fourteen kits had gone undelivered, but yesterday they got out the door!

Thank you to Peggy Gomez, Keith Buswell, Bryan Seck, and Spreetail.
