You Create the Art

Throughout history, patrons have played an indispensable role in the creation of the most celebrated art and music. By providing financial support and creative freedom, they enabled artists and composers to pursue their visions.

We know the Medicis, we know the Guggenheims. But you don’t need to be a millionaire to support the arts. The arts are the very definition of equity and democracy. Everyone, of every stripe and fortune, is moved the same way by a Mahler Symphony or a Tom Meyers landscape. Which is why it is up to all of us to support the arts. These days it’s easy to feel helpless. But you can help by bringing the solace and joy of the arts to yourself and to your community. It’s how we heal, and find common ground.

Our mission is to change lives through the arts. That’s what your support of the Lincoln Arts Council does. It takes the arts to people who don’t have access to it. We use the arts to heal those in physical or emotional pain, and to teach empathy and creativity.

What difference can
YOU Make?

Our work relies on your support. Any amount helps, but here is a guide to what your donation can accomplish.

  • $25 buys art supplies for a 6-week afterschool arts club at Title I schools.
  • $50 pays for an hour of instruction by one of our teaching artists (yes, we pay them $50/hour because that is the value of their skills and training. Supporting and valuing local artists is important to us).
  • $100 pays for a morning of instruction for at-risk youths at the Pathfinder School at the Lancaster County Youth Detention Center.
  • $250 allows an adult trauma survivor to participate in one of our many CarestArt projects, such as our journaling workshops for women escaping domestic violence in collaboration with Voices of Hope.
  • $500 is a month of evening arts programming for young adults and children on the autism spectrum.
  • $1,000 funds a week-long summer camp for a dozen Title I students.
