Clark Potter, Professor of Viola at the Glenn Korff School of Music at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL), has served as conductor for the Lincoln Youth Symphony since 2007. An active performer, Clark is a solo recitalist and member of three chamber ensembles: the Nebraska Chamber Players, the Trans-Nebraska Players, and the UNL faculty ensemble Una Corda. Until earlier this year, Clark served as a prime violist for the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra; it is through his role as an educator through the Lincoln Youth Symphony that the conductor has made immeasurable impact on the youth music scene.

The Lincoln Youth Symphony is the only youth symphony in the country supported by a public school system, which allows participating musicians to perform at no cost. Even so, Clark executed the program with high regard for musician professionalism. With a rigorous audition process and quality classical music programs, the conductor held Symphony participants to a high standard of orchestral expectations.

As a key player in the Lincoln Youth Symphony and outreach programs for Lincoln Public Schools, Clark has nurtured a number of young musicians throughout the Lincoln area and beyond. It is under his guidance that the steady appreciation for classical music among our community’s youth has continued to thrive.
