Celebrating his 25th season as Music Director of Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra, Maestro Edward Polochick has transformed the organization artistically, increasing the size of the orchestra in a new concert venue, nearly doubling the number of concerts in the season, and broadening the scope of community outreach.
Music Director of LSO since 1998, Maestro Polochick expanded LSO’s music series through innovative classical music programs, family concerts, and education and outreach concerts and events. Throughout his international career, his loyalty and service to Lincoln has never wavered. For 31 years, he was Artistic Director of Concert Artists of Baltimore, a professional chamber orchestra and vocal ensemble of 80+ musicians which he founded in 1987. He served on the faculty of the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore 1979-2021 in many positions including Associate Conductor of Orchestras, Director of Choral Ensembles, and Opera Conductor.
Though a native of Baltimore, Maryland, Edward considers Lincoln, Nebraska his second home–so much so that he dedicates the entirety of his visits to Nebraska’s capital to ensuring classical music remains accessible to everyone in Lincoln. Through LSO’s public performances, school visits, workshops, master classes and other educational activities, and radio and television appearances, the concertmaster’s advocacy for classical music–and Lincoln–is unparalleled.
