As lifelong appreciators of the arts, Jim and Margaret Griesen have supported the arts scene of Lincoln for many years–as patrons, volunteers, leaders, and more–to an unsurpassable end.
For 30-plus years, the Griesens have materialized their love for classical music as high-level donors for the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra (LSO). But their impact has extended far beyond their financial contributions. Jim and Margaret both served on the Symphony’s Board of Directors, helped found the Encore and Crescendo clubs, and chaired numerous LSO Guild fundraising events. What’s more, the couple regularly gifted their Symphony concert tickets to university students and Margaret, her culinary skills to feed the orchestra during rehearsals. Since Margaret’s passing in 2022, Jim endowed a chair at the Lied Center for the Arts to further immortalize their love and support for the musical arts.
Serving as donors, as board members, as program trailblazers and more, Jim and Margaret Griesen showed their support for Lincoln’s musical arts scene through multiple roles for LSO. But it is the generosity and compassion behind their involvement that has left a memorable impact for the music community.
