Lincoln Arts Festival brings together artists, arts organizations, and art enthusiasts in an inclusive, accessible venue to create its annual premiere event, where attendees can enjoy all aspects of the arts in an exciting downtown location.

Lincoln Arts is heartbroken to learn of arts champion and former president for our Board of Directors, Joe Ruffo’s, passing. For Lincoln’s arts community, Joe was a vital member and leader. More than that, he was a champion for others’ ambitions.

As our upstArt programming expands it scope this year, climbing from 18 projects to more than 40, Lincoln Arts has extended our reach to outside partners, including Autism Family Network and Urban Legends Art Studio.

Due to an overwhelming interest in our “emerging artist” scholarships, the Lincoln Arts Festival (LAF) will be expanding the Emerging Artist Program this year, which means the 2022 summer event will now feature 12 Lincoln new artists!

In the new year, upstArt has continued to grow, expanding our focus to include partnerships with community service providers that can utilize the power of the arts to further their missions and impacts. How? Because community engagement is a key.

It is with a now heavy heart—filled with sorrow—that we share the news of Colleen's passing. But for the arts community, Colleen will continue to live on as the mentor, creator, and giver she was. For the kind of impact she made cannot be replicated.

On Wednesday, February 9, at 4 p.m. at the Lied Center for Performing Arts, the E. N. Thompson Forum on Word Issues will present Anna Deavere Smith, for revealing the effects of inequality and discord on American communities through through theatre.

The Golden Triangle Business Improvement District in Washington, DC. hosts a haiku competition each year. This year, they are close to having entries from all 50 states, but they don’t have an entry from Nebraska yet! Maybe it could be you?
