Our upstArt Program Continues to Grow

Community engagement is a key component of Lincoln Arts’ mission, and our upstArt programming acts as the driving force behind that component—especially now. In the new year, upstArt has continued to grow, expanding our focus to include partnerships with community service providers that can utilize the power of the arts to further their missions and impacts. As part of the 39 initiatives upstArt has planned for the year, we have already implemented monthly art classes for young adults with autism spectrum disorder and therapeutic art sessions for residents of The Bridge, as well as several arts classes through Lincoln Public Schools’ (LPS) afterschool Community Learning Center (CLC) program.

With support of our partners at LPS, Lincoln Arts will work with 22 CLC programs this year! We have begun classes in photography, watercolors, pencil drawing (as pictured), and theatre at Pershing, Brownell, Norwood Park, and Riley Elementary Schools and have planned similar clubs at Calvert, Elliott, Prescott, and Saratoga Elementary Schools for later this year. Stay tuned to see what the young artists of our community learn to create and how the service providers of Lincoln continue to connect through the arts!
